Interesting types of pasta to create
January 11, 2022What do you know about pasta? Most people only know pasta which consists of spaghetti and macaroni only. Though the pasta has many types and characteristics of each. Processed from flour and wheat is indeed suitable for creation.
Pasta itself is a processed food that is often seen in many Italian dishes. Pasta is usually made from unleavened dough with durum wheat flour (semolina) mixed with air or eggs. Then, it is cooked by roasting or roasting when it is about to be consumed. There are various forms of pasta.
In Indonesia itself, popular types of pasta include spaghetti, macaroni, or lasagna. This food is quite easy to serve, because it is usually found in dry form and you just need to add it and then add the sauce.

The second type of pasta is Bucatini. This pasta has a rounder shape and has a hole in the middle. This makes it slightly thicker than spaghetti. Angel Hair
The first types of pasta are Angel Hair. This pasta has a long and thin, thinner than spaghetti. For the best consumption of this pasta, go with an oil-based sauce and light cream. This spaghetti can also be turned into a traditional Italian dish with the addition of marinara sauce. Shredded chicken or shrimp scampi can also be a great protein addition.
Spaghetti
The fourth type of pasta is Spaghetti. This is one form of pasta that is popular in Indonesia. Cylindrical shape like angel hair and bucatini. Not as thin as angel hair, but thinner than a bucatini. In Italian, spaghetti means “string or small”. There are several variations of spaghetti or spaghetti, including spaghetti alla chitarra, spaghettini, and spaghetti. Basically the shape is the same as straight lengthwise, but the size of the spgahetti is slightly different.
Papardelle
The fifth type of pasta is Pappardelle. Fettucci was originally the only wide pasta. Pappardelle has an even wider shape. Pappardelle pasta tastes delicious when paired with a meat-based sauce. This pasta is most often served with bolognese, or for seafood pasta dishes.
Fettuccine
The third type of pasta is Fettuccine. This pasta has a flat shape like spaghetti. However, this paste is thicker and denser. The fettuccine is wide enough, so it goes well with chunky meat sauce. Fetuccine is a pasta that is wider than linguine with a flat surface, similar to kwetiau. Fettucine has many variations of other names, such as:
- Lasagana
- Fettucce racist and sagna
- Rice Noodless
Vermicelli
Vermicelli, or we know it by the name of vermicelli, is a very thin form of pasta. Italian vermicelli made with semolina and Asian vermicelli with rice noodles. You can mix this pasta with a little olive oil and canned tomatoes for light dishes like spaghetti, or use it in stir-fries and soups.

Elbow Macaroni
Besides spaghetti, this pasta is also a type that is widely consumed in Indonesia. It’s small, semi-circular, and is a great pasta choice for making casseroles and also great for making crispy macaroni.
Penne
The origin of the word Penne comes from the Latin penna, which means “feather” or “pen”. Penne is a pasta shaped like a pen, with a small tube cut diagonally. Penne is suitable served with a variety of sauces, ranging from cream, tomato, or meat.
Although the name sounds familiar, but you may have come across this type of pasta. This paste is cylindrical in shape with a beveled edge and is shaped like a pen. The texture has a bump that makes penne an ideal paste for catching sauces.
Campanelle
Campanelle pasta is one of those rare forms of pasta. This pasta is rolled in a cone shape and has ruffled edges, like tiny bell-shaped flowers. The hole in the center can be used to stack thick sauce well.
Rigatoni
Rigatoni looks like the pasta brother of penne. The shape is also cylindrical with bulges in the texture, but it is a little denser and not narrow. Like penne, it has a wide hole in the center so it can trap the sauce. Every bite of this pasta is cheesy, creamy and flavorful.
Rotini
Spiral Wrapped Paste. The shape is “curly”. Combined with: Tomato-based sauces and sticky cream that sticks between pastas. Also can be used for Cold Pasta Salad.

Lasagana
The next type of pasta is Lasagne. This is the most recognizable type of sheet pasta, this one is one of the oldest pastas in the world. The wrinkled, decorative edges are the hallmark of lasagna. Lasagna is usually served with ricotta cheese and meat sauce.
Stuffed Pasta
Tortellini
Shaped like a small donut, Tortellini also resemble a navel, hence the nickname “navel pasta” and can be served drenched in sauce or served in gravy or tomato soup. This pasta is also great with a little oil and parmesan cheese because it already has a lot of flavor incorporated into the filling.
Gnnochi
Made differently from pasta rolls, gnocchi uses potatoes as the base with the addition of flour and eggs. The result is a compact, small dumpling shape. Gnocchi are usually smothered in a cream sauce, or other sauce.
Manicotti
Think of manicotti like jumbo penne noodles. Same Texture and Shape, But Much Bigger. And this will leave this pasta with plenty of room to fill with the cheese and sauce.
